Neighbourhood Information Session
We are inviting you to attend the Neighbourhood Information Session for the Bricker Street Reconstruction Project. This meeting will provide an opportunity for the residents to meet the contractor completing the works, and have any outstanding questions addressed. The information regarding the meeting is as follows:
- Date: March 23rd, 2026
- Location: Bricker Street (Lloyd Street to Maple Drive). Town and contractor vehicles will be the meeting point.
- Time: 4:00pm to 6:00pm
Construction Details
Beginning early April, the Contractor will mobilize to start the Bricker Street Reconstruction Project. The project will consist of the following works:
Bricker Street (Lloyd – Maple) (Project Map attached Below)
- Reconstruction of roadway, complete with curb and gutter
- Replacement of the existing sanitary sewer, services and sanitary manhole structures
- Replacement of the existing watermain and services
- Replacement of the existing stormwater sewer network
Schedule and Work Hours
Construction is expected to take approximately three months, weather permitting. Work will generally occur Monday to Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. There will be no construction on weekends, outside daylight hours, or during statutory holidays.
Project Updates
Updates will be posted regularly on the Town’s Bricker Street (Lloyd to Maple) project page at https://engage.saugeenshores.ca/BrickerStreet
Traffic, Pedestrian Access & Parking
During the construction project, local traffic flow will be maintained throughout the construction project, where possible.
- Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times. Certain areas may be enclosed using modular safety fencing or barrels to ensure public safety while allowing safe passage.
- Emergency vehicle access for police, fire, and medical response will be maintained at all times.
- At times, access through the site area may be unavailable. Detours will be in place.
Waste Collection
If construction disrupts regular garbage or recycling pickup, the Contractor will transport bins to the ends of the construction zone for collection. To assist in returning bins to the correct properties:
- Please ensure bins are clearly labeled with your address.
- Have them placed outside by 7:00 a.m. on collection days.
The Contractor will also coordinate access for private waste collection services, where applicable.
Mail and Deliveries
The Contractor will work directly with affected properties to ensure uninterrupted access for mail and package deliveries throughout the project.
Tree and Hedge Removal
Where necessary, trees and cedar hedges will be trimmed or removed to facilitate construction. The Town will avoid tree removal wherever possible. Replacement trees will be planted if possible and affected property owners will be contacted to discuss suitable locations for replanting.
Temporary Water Services
This project requires the use of temporary water services on Bricker Street. The water services will be connected above ground and may require crossings of driveways. The Contractor will do their best to install these so that there is minimal impact but there may be temporary mounding within driveways to protect the watermain.
Water Service Interruptions
Brief water service interruptions may occur during reconnections. You will be notified in advance of any planned outages. In the event of unexpected issues or emergency repairs (e.g. a watermain break), service will be restored as soon as possible.
Encroachments
If you have any encroachments on Municipal property such as sprinkler heads, lights, planters, rocks, flower beds, etc. please remove them or have them clearly marked and best efforts will be made to avoid them. However, the Town will not be held responsible for damage to these and other items that may be on municipal property and close to the contractor’s work zone.
Special Event or Circumstance
If you have a special event planned at your property or require special needs on a given day, please advise the Town office well in advance and every attempt will be made to schedule the work to prevent or reduce interference with your planned activities.
