Saugeen Shores Advances Local Priorities in Ottawa

Town of Saugeen Shores representatives have returned from Ottawa following a productive series of meetings with Provincial officials while attending the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) Conference from August 17-20.  

Mayor Luke Charbonneau, Councillor Bud Halpin, Chief Administrative Officer Kara Van Myall, and Manager of Strategic Initiatives Jill Roote met with officials from several Ministries to advocate for local priorities. 

  • Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development 
    Topic: Rural Workforce Development 

  • Ministry of Energy and Mines 
    Topic: Delegation with Bruce County, Municipal Capacity Funding Bruce C Project 

  • Ministry of Health 
    Topic: Funding Healthcare Infrastructure and Family Health Team  

“These meetings were an important opportunity to ensure the Province understands the needs and priorities of our community,” said Mayor Charbonneau. “We are committed to building strong partnerships with all levels of government to deliver results for the people of Saugeen Shores. I am encouraged by the positive conversations we had in Ottawa and look forward to seeing them turn into action.” 

The annual AMO Conference brings together municipal and provincial leaders to discuss issues facing Ontario communities and to collaborate on solutions that support sustainable growth, community well-being, and long-term prosperity.
