Saugeen Shores Celebrates Pride Month
The Town of Saugeen Shores proudly hosted a Pride Flag raising ceremony on May 30, 2025, at the municipal office to mark the beginning of Pride Month. The event brought together Saugeen Shores Council, Town Staff, and community members in a celebration of inclusivity and diversity.
Mayor Luke Charbonneau spoke alongside Saugeen First Nation Chief Conrad Ritchie and Grey Bruce Pride Chair Rachel Paterson at the ceremony. The three speakers emphasized the importance of fostering a welcoming community for all and optimism for the future. They also addressed the importance of recognizing June as Indigenous Heritage Month and encouraged the community to learn about the history of two-spirited people.
“I am proud that the raising of the Pride Flag has become an enduring tradition in our community,” said Mayor Charbonneau. "Saugeen Shores is a place where we celebrate diversity and inclusivity, ensuring that everyone feels they belong. Pride Month is a time to honor the resilience, contributions, and vibrancy of the 2SLGBTQI+ community."
The Town is committed to promoting acceptance and equality, and the Pride Flag will remain raised throughout June as a symbol of unity and support for the 2SLGBTQI+ community.
