Saugeen Shores Launches Ready-to-Build Housing Designs

The Town of Saugeen Shores is proud to announce the launch of its Ready-to-Build Housing Designs. This forward-thinking initiative is designed to streamline the development of housing that match the character and charm of the community. 

Developed in collaboration with Invizij Architects and Tim Welch Consulting, the initiative offers a catalogue of four pre-reviewed ARU designs, as well as three designs for missing middle housing including a duplex, triplex, and fourplex. The designs support a range of housing needs, from multigenerational living and downsizing to rental income opportunities, while promoting sustainable development and community vibrancy. The options were designed with the Town’s character in mind and comply with the Ontario Building Code and local zoning regulations.  

“By offering ready-to-build designs, we’re making it easier and more affordable for residents to unlock the potential of their own property while contributing to a growing and diverse housing landscape,” said Mayor Charbonneau. “This initiative provides a head start by streamlining the planning review process and reducing costs.” 

The official catalogue is now available, offering final renderings and floor plans to interested residential property owners who can begin the development approval process by requesting the complete construction package at www.saugeenshores.ca/Ready-to-Build.  

This initiative was funded through the federal Housing Accelerator Fund (HAF) and Bruce Power’s SEED Funding program. It is one of eight strategic initiatives under the Town’s broader HAF plan to accelerate the delivery of diverse and attainable housing. These long-term strategies aim to support housing development in Saugeen Shores, both now and in the years to come.
