Saugeen Shores transitioning to Ontario's curbside Blue Box program
Starting January 1, 2026, the Town of Saugeen Shores will transition to Ontario’s curbside Blue Box program. Under this provincial model, the Town will no longer manage curbside recycling, but residents will benefit from being able to recycle more than ever!
How will this affect you?
-
Residential properties should transition seamlessly to the Province's new curbside Blue Box program, which will include an expanded list of recyclable materials.
-
Businesses, commercial farms, places of worship, non-profits and other institutions will not be able to participate in Ontario’s curbside Blue Box program as they are considered ineligible sources. To support local businesses and organizations which will lose curbside pickup, the Town of Saugeen Shores will be implementing a new drop-off recycling program at the Southampton Landfill for businesses and institutions that no longer receive curbside pickup.
