Shoreline Rehabilitation Work Beginning Soon

Updated trail detour option (Updated September 24, 2025)

The Town will be resuming annual shoreline rehabilitation work along North Shore Road beginning Monday, September 29.

As part of the project, North Shore Road will be closed to through traffic between 84 and 124 North Shore Road, Monday to Friday from 7:00AM to 5:00PM. Traffic North of the construction zone will be directed to Concession 10, while traffic South of the Construction zone will be directed to McVicar Street.

For safety reasons, cyclists and pedestrians should use alternative routes such as the Woodland Trail system for the duration of the work. A suggested route is marked on the map below. Please note this trail is a combination of woodchip and gravel surface with some hilly sections, and may not be suitable for all users.

The Town is working to improve this section of the North Shore trail and protect the road, after several years of high-water levels eroded the shoreline.

This year's plan is to replace 385m of an armour stone shore revetment and a multi-use trail, with related excavation, filling, and grading. Crews will reconstruct a three-metre-wide (3m, or 10 feet) asphalt multi-use trail. This work includes rebuilding the slope up to the new multi-use trail and rehabilitating the surrounding area.

The work is expected to last until November 2025.
