Town Welcomes New Director of Development Services
The Town of Saugeen Shores extends its congratulations and appreciation to Mark Paoli, who will retire from his position at the end of January after 3 years of service as Director of Development Services. Mark’s retirement marks a significant milestone in his distinguished 37-year career with 29 years in municipal government, including an impactful tenure with Saugeen Shores.
During his time in Saugeen Shores, Mark has played an instrumental role in guiding responsible growth and development, leading initiatives that have enhanced the Town's infrastructure, and supported local economic and community development. His commitment to excellence and collaboration has left a lasting impact on the community.
As the Town recognizes Mark’s achievements, it is pleased to announce the hiring of Dwayne Evans as the new Director of Development Services. Dwayne will officially join the Town on January 5, 2026, ensuring a smooth transition and continued strong leadership for the Department, which oversees Engineering, Building, Planning, Economic Development, Asset Management, and By-law Enforcement.
Dwayne brings extensive knowledge and experience to the position. He holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Geography from Wilfrid Laurier University, a Master of Arts in Geography, and a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from the University of Western Ontario. He is a Registered Professional Planner and has completed the Municipal Administration Program through the Association of Municipal Managers, Clerks and Treasurers of Ontario (AMCTO).
With more than 20 years in the public sector, Dwayne has served as Chief Administrative Officer for the Township of North Huron, Clerk for the Town of Goderich, and held roles as Land Use Planner and Manager of Corporate Services for the County of Huron. His experience also includes positions as Rural Planner with the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and Planner with the Ontario Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing.
Dwayne’s leadership approach is collaborative and people-first, values that align closely with the Town’s commitment to teamwork and community service. His expertise and vision will be instrumental in guiding development initiatives that support Saugeen Shores’ growth and sustainability.
