Winter Operations Plan Update

The Town of Saugeen Shores is excited to announce that it continues to expand winter maintenance as a part of its newly updated Winter Operations Plan, last updated in 2020. The updated plan includes adjusting the number of sidewalks and roads receiving winter maintenance within the Town’s urban areas. 

Major updates to the Plan compared to 2020, include an additional 20 km of sidewalks receiving winter maintenance, a 33% increase, and an additional six kilometres of roads.  

“We are very pleased to enhance sidewalk snow clearing services in neighborhoods right across Saugeen Shores,” said Mayor Luke Charbonneau. “Thanks to the Town’s investment in a new sidewalk plow we are now able to provide residents a safer, pedestrian-friendly community throughout our winter months.” 

Of the additional 20 km of sidewalks added to the Town’s Winter Maintenance Plan, approximately half are due to recent construction since 2020, and half to existing sidewalks in Southampton beginning maintenance in the winter of 2025/2026, thanks to the new sidewalk plow route.  

The Town is committed to a robust Winter Maintenance Program to safeguard public health and safety, and our Operations Department staff have the skills and equipment to meet this need.
