Official Plan and Official Plan Amendments
The Town of Saugeen Shores Official Plan sets out how our land will be used for the next 20 years.
Purpose of the Official Plan
Along with showing our commitment to the future growth of Saugeen Shores, the Official Plan is important because it:
-
Ensures that growth is coordinated and meets our needs
-
Helps you understand how your land may be used now and, in the future
-
Decides where roads, parks, trails and other services will be built
-
Provides a guideline for our Zoning By-law to set specific regulations and standard
-
Helps us evaluate and settle conflicting land uses while meeting the interests of the Town, County and Province
You can review the following maps to find your property's designation:
Refer to the Official Plan to view policies associated with your property.
Planning for your project
If you are planning to create a new building, our Zoning By-law regulates what you can and cannot do.
If you want to create a new lot or build a subdivision, your project must meet the standards set out in the Official Plan.
Amendments to the Official Plan
You can propose changes to the Town's Official Plan through an Official Plan Amendment. Applications for amendments to the Town’s Official Plan are administered by the County of Bruce Planning Department.
