Closures and Disruptions

The Town of Saugeen Shores has declared a Significant Weather Event due to observed and forecasted conditions, effective 8:00 a.m. on February 18, 2026, and continuing until further notice. 

The Significant Weather Event which began January 19, 2026 has now ended, as of January 29, 2026 at 12:30 p.m. 

A section of the Shipley Trail in Port Elgin between McKinnon Lane (Shipley Ave) and the trail entrance off Mitchell Lane is closed for urgent tree maintenance.

Update: The Significant Weather Event which began December 29, 2025 has now ended, as of January 5, 2026 at 2:30 p.m.

As we approach the holiday season, please note the following facility closures and modified hours.

The section of Woodland Trail between South St and Intersection 6 is closed due to hazardous trees. 

Gustavus Street, between Wellington Street and Goderich Street, will be closed Thursday, October 2 from approximately 9am-4pm.  The travelling public needs to avoid this area and take alternate routes. 

Please note, the following municipal office facilities will be closed on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 from 10:30am to 12:30pm to allow staff the opportunity to attend the Zgaa-biig-ni-gan Bridge Ceremony at 11:00am in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
