Notice of Future Construction: Ridge Street (Bruce Road 25 to Frances Street)
Project Overview
The Town of Saugeen Shores will be constructing a new section of Ridge Street from Frances Street to Bruce Road 25. Planned work includes the installation and replacement of underground infrastructure, new asphalt pavement and curbs, and the construction of a multi-use path that will connect the existing northern section of Ridge Street to Bruce Road 25. Tree planting will also be completed as part of the project. The project includes the construction of a single-lane mini roundabout at the intersection of Ridge Street and Bruce Road 25 to improve traffic flow and enhance safety for all road users.
Construction Details
Phase 1
Beginning early March, the Contractor will mobilize to start Phase 1 of Ridge Street Reconstruction Project. The phase will consist of the following works:
Ridge Street (Frances St. – Bruce Road 25) (Map attached below)
- The installation of gravity sanitary sewer, watermain, and storm drainage infrastructure
- The installation of road base, asphalt, & curbs
- The installation of street lighting and the construction of a multi-use trail
Phase 2
Phase 2 consists of the roadworks for a mini roundabout, in addition to the replacement and installation of storm infrastructure at the intersection of Bruce Road 25 and Ridge Street.
Schedule and Work Hours
Construction is expected to take approximately three months, weather permitting. Work will generally occur Monday to Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. There will be no construction on weekends, outside daylight hours, or during statutory holidays.
Traffic, Pedestrian Access & Parking
During the construction project, local traffic flow will be maintained throughout the construction project, where possible.
- Pedestrian access will be maintained where possible. Certain areas may be enclosed using modular safety fencing or barrels to ensure public safety while allowing safe passage. There may be times where pedestrian access is unable to be implemented. Signage will be placed to indicate access.
- Emergency vehicle access for police, fire, and medical response will be maintained at all times.
Mail, Deliveries, and Waste Collection
Regular access for mail delivery, package drop-offs, and routine garbage or recycling collection is not expected to be affected by the project. If an interruption does occur, please contact the Town so we can work to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
Encroachments
If you have any encroachments on Municipal property such as sprinkler heads, lights, planters, rocks, flower beds, etc. please remove them or have them clearly marked and best efforts will be made to avoid them. However, the Town will not be held responsible for damage to these and other items that may be on municipal property and close to the contractor’s work zone.
