Please be advised that the water service to 5007 Highway 21 (Port Elgin Estates & Resort) will be temporarily interrupted due to construction on Goderich Street.

Beginning Monday, April 28, the Contractor will mobilize a secondary crew to complete Phase 3 of the Goderich Street Resurfacing Project. This phase will extend from Ivings Drive to Concession 6 and includes asphalt resurfacing, storm sewer upgrades and water distribution system improvements. This is a deployment of an additional crew and as such does not pull any resources from the critical downtown intersection work.

Areas marked in red are confirmed to be affected, while areas marked in orange are potentially at risk of interruption in the event of seized water valves.

A Pre-Construction Public Information Session for the High Street (Victoria Street to Grosvenor Street) Reconstruction Project is scheduled for April 10 at the Southampton Town Hall from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm.

Due to weather delays, the sanitary sewer lining work (noted in the March 28th notice) will now begin on April 9th and is expected to finish by April 17th.

As part of the planning process for the proposed expansion of the Town of Saugeen Shores’ existing landfill site, a Terms of Reference (ToR) was submitted to the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) for review as required under the Environmental Assessment Act (EAA). If approved, the ToR will serve as a framework for the preparation and review of the Environmental Assessment (EA) for the proposed undertaking.

As part of the Ministry of Transportation’s (MTO) Connecting Link Program, funding has been allocated for various rehabilitation works along Goderich Street (South-end of Port Elgin Concession 6 to Concession 10 (North-end of Port Elgin). The project will involve the resurfacing of the asphalt on Goderich Street, as well as the restoration of the historic brick intersections in the downtown Port Elgin. Additionally, there will be minor underground infrastructure upgrades.
