A section of the Rail Trail in Southampton between McNabb Street and the trail entrance off Cedar Creek Drive will be closed on Tuesday, September 16 at 7:30 a.m. for urgent tree maintenance. The trail will re-open at 3:00 p.m. No pedestrian traffic will be permitted on the trail during the closure.

With excitement and deep gratitude, the Town of Saugeen Shores is proud to announce that the official name of the new recreation facility will be the Pryde Aquatic and Wellness Centre. 

The Town of Saugeen Shores unveiled its new Centre for Training Excellence with an official ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday, September 8. The two-storey, live fire training facility marks an important step forward in providing top quality local firefighter training and emergency preparedness.  

The Town of Saugeen Shores is proud to celebrate several recently unveiled community art installations in both Port Elgin and Southampton. These new public art pieces reflect Saugeen Shores’ strong commitment to placemaking, cultural development, and downtown enhancement.

Town of Saugeen Shores representatives have returned from Ottawa following a productive series of meetings with Provincial officials while attending the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) Conference from August 17-20.  

The Town of Saugeen Shores is pleased to acknowledge and thank the Province of Ontario following yesterday’s announcement of a $17,976,250 in funding for upgrades to the Southampton Water Pollution Control Plant (WPCP). This funding has been awarded to Saugeen Shores through the Housing-Enabling Water Systems Fund (HEWSF), a stream of the Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program (MHIP).  

Update: Grey Bruce Public Health has lifted the swim advisory for Southampton after receiving test results from a new series of beach water samples that show bacterial levels have returned to within Ontario Ministry of Health guidelines for safe swimming/bathing.
