  • Notice of Commencement: Transportation Master Plan Update Study

    The Town of Saugeen Shores is updating its Transportation Master Plan to reflect growth and change that has occurred in the community since the municipality completed the current plan in 2020. A transportation master plan is one of several strategic policy documents that direct how a municipality will grow and develop over time.

  • Notice of Public Information Centre: Water and Wastewater Servicing Master Plan Update

    The Town of Saugeen Shores is updating the 2020 Water and Wastewater Servicing Master Plan for the urban areas of Port Elgin and Southampton. Saugeen First Nation also receives water services from the Saugeen Shores Water System. The update will review existing water treatment, distribution, and storage infrastructure, and sanitary sewage collection and treatment infrastructure. It will also include a review of future growth forecasts and potential future water and wastewater demands to 2045, as it relates to key infrastructure. The Master Plan will serve as a strategic planning document recommending projects, outlining estimated timelines and triggers for implementation.

  • Town Launching Ready-to-Build Housing Designs

    The Town of Saugeen Shores is advancing its commitment to addressing local housing needs as it prepares to launch new Ready-to-Build Housing Designs which were received by Council on June 16. The initiative is designed to streamline residential construction, increase housing options, and support affordability across the community. 

  • Mayor Charbonneau delegates authorities under new Strong Mayor Powers

    Following the Province of Ontario’s expansion of Strong Mayor Powers to municipalities including Saugeen Shores, Mayor Luke Charbonneau has issued his first three decisions under the new legislation. These decisions delegate specific authorities back to Council and the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), reaffirming the Town’s commitment to collaborative governance. 

  • Winter Operations Plan Update

    The Town of Saugeen Shores is excited to announce that it continues to expand winter maintenance as a part of its newly updated Winter Operations Plan, last updated in 2020. The updated plan includes adjusting the number of sidewalks and roads receiving winter maintenance within the Town’s urban areas. 

  • Notice of Commencement: Saugeen Shores Water Treatment Plant

    The Town of Saugeen Shores is initiating a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) Study to plan for the water supply needs of the Southampton and Port Elgin urban areas. The Town of Saugeen Shores 2020 Master Plan identified the need for a Schedule “C” Class EA to review alternatives for expansion of the Saugeen Shores Water Treatment Plant (WTP) to meet the capacity needs for the existing community and anticipated development to the year 2053.
