The Town of Saugeen Shores is pleased to acknowledge and thank the Province of Ontario following yesterday’s announcement of a $17,976,250 in funding for upgrades to the Southampton Water Pollution Control Plant (WPCP). This funding has been awarded to Saugeen Shores through the Housing-Enabling Water Systems Fund (HEWSF), a stream of the Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program (MHIP).
Update: Grey Bruce Public Health has lifted the swim advisory for Southampton after receiving test results from a new series of beach water samples that show bacterial levels have returned to within Ontario Ministry of Health guidelines for safe swimming/bathing.
Due to recent hot, dry weather and a corresponding increase in water consumption, the Town of Saugeen Shores is encouraging residents to voluntarily reduce their water usage, particularly when it comes to lawn irrigation.
The Town of Saugeen Shores is proud to recognize and thank the Breakers Swim Team for a generous $195,000 donation to cover 75% of the cost of electronic pool timing equipment for the new Aquatic and Wellness Centre.
